Adult Volunteer Opportunities

Please note some of our roles require the following:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time

  • Frequent bending, reaching, and twisting

  • The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing up to 40 pounds.

If you are unable to perform these duties, please let us know during orientation so we can place you in the best position to fit your abilities.

 

Food Bank

Food Bank Desk 

What you'll do:

  • Greet and assist shoppers during food bank hours

  • Check-in, register and guide clients through the food bank

  • Create a welcoming and respectful experience for all

Great for: Friendly, people-oriented volunteers

Shifts: Monday - Friday, 9:30am - 1pm and 1pm - 4:30pm

Food Bank Operations 

 

What you'll do:

  • Sort, stock, and organize food donations

  • Prepare food for distribution

  • Assist with daily food bank operations

 

Great for: Volunteers who like hands-on work and being part of the action.

Shifts: Monday - Friday, 9am - 12pm, 12pm - 3pm and 3pm - 5pm

Grocery Rescue Driver 

 

What you'll do: 

  • Pick up donated food from Safeway and T&C

  • Transport donations to Helpline House

  • Help reduce food waste while feeding neighbors

Great for: Volunteers with a valid driver's license and access to a large vehicle. Can be done with a partner to reduce the number of trips

Shifts: Mornings Monday - Friday for Safeway and daily for T&C

Seasonal

Project Happy Birthday Help make birthdays a little brighter for kids under age 18!
We will provide guidance to help you choose a fun, age-appropriate gift. Unwrapped gifts will be dropped off at the front desk and distributed. For more information, please email frontdesk@helplinehouse.org.


Holiday Programs Organizing and preparing goods for distribution in mid-December.

 

 

Student Volunteer Opportunities

Food Bank Operations Rising freshman and high students sort donations, lift, load, move boxes to stock shelves, and clean work zones. Opportunities: After school, Winter break, Mid-Winter break, Spring break, and Summer vacation.

Helpline House is now temporarily located at 901 Hildebrand Lane, near the north end of Ericksen Avenue, for approximately 12 months during the construction of our new facility. Thanks to a lease partnership with Clark Construction and the support of our board and volunteer Michael Wright, we continue to offer uninterrupted services to the community.
