Self-selecting Groceries

Updated: Nov 4, 2021

Food Bank Hours

Monday - Friday, closed Wednesdays

12 - 4 pm

Covid-19 Information here.

On August 2nd, shoppers came inside to choose their items for the first time since March of 2020! They are greeted by vaccinated staff and volunteers and are re-introduced to the brighter and expanded shopping space. As volunteers and community members reconnect, we are all looking forward to being able to be inside again after the past 18 months or so. With many safeguards, we are delighted to be able to offer an indoor shopping experience.

Case managers and therapists will be meeting clients by phone or video, for now, so as to help lessen traffic in the food bank. We are so grateful for the technology that allows us to

solve problems over the phone, email, letters or Zoom. For example, this month over 300 social work services were provided virtually to help meet neighbors’ critical needs. As we continue to navigate life in a global pandemic, we at Helpline made a bold and important choice to require vaccinations for all staff and volunteers before working on site. We believe it is our responsibility to contribute to and to protect the health and safety of everyone in our community.

We’ve Moved—Just Around the Corner!

Helpline House is now temporarily located at 901 Hildebrand Lane, near the north end of Ericksen Avenue, for approximately 12 months during the construction of our new facility. Thanks to a lease partnership with Clark Construction and the support of our board and volunteer Michael Wright, we continue to offer uninterrupted services to the community.

“As we transition to our new space, we remain deeply committed to serving Bainbridge Island with care and compassion,” said Maria Metzler, Executive Director. “We’re excited about what’s ahead and grateful to stay connected during this time of growth.”

Closed: Christmas, New Year's Day, MLK Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Fourth of July, Labor Day and Thanksgiving weekend.
